Amy Broome |
Music has always been a part of my life, but only in the last few years have I had the opportunity to perform as a singer songwriter. Most of my musical influences were from my father who not only took me to concerts starting at the age of five (Beach Boys) but also to local music venues including the Double Door. My view is real and different and reflected in my music. Live life one day at a time, be responsible for your happiness and stop a minute to appreciate it. |
Robin Rogers |
Mrs. Rogers and guitarist husband Tony, once a staple in house bands from Gastonia to Rock Hill, struck out their own around 18 months ago. Rogers knew early on in her life she was going to be a performer. "I came from a musical family, my grandfather was Roy Hall (a Marion bluegrass legend), who wrote a song for Ricky Scaggs. I had a really strong voice, I could sing Janis Joplin and Jefferson Airplane, so I realized I could make a living do this." Rogers started in coffee houses in Virginia when she was 15-years old and eventually became a backup singer for The Platters before finding her niche as a singer in house bands in the area.

Darlyne Cain |
"Darlyne Cain’s new CD, The Next Step proves quite prophetic and welcome. The disc spotlights Cain’s compositions, which range from probing to provocative and poignant to ironic, while also highlighting a strong, alternately elegant and energetic voice. The musical mix of folk, country and jazz elements is smoothly executed by Cain and an A-list crew that includes guitarist Duane Jarvis, keyboardist Dennis Wage, bassist Dave Francis and percussionist Craig Wright."

Jennifer Daniels |
Singer-songwriter Jennifer Daniels lives in a rustic cabin on top of Lookout Mountain in Georgia where her earthy folk rock is born. Jennifer's music springs from Celtic roots but is "regional" in the best sense of the word - it shows a connection to the land that inhabits her songs. Her vocal phrasing is reminescent of a young Joni Mitchell, or "a more folkish Celtic-sounding Sarah McLachlan." But Jennifer's distinct style and impressive vocal range go beyond comparison and genre. Her music is unique.

Brian Hartzog |
Brian Hartzog is really making things happen with his second full-length CD release, One-Way Ticket. The songs on One-Way Ticket are a unique blend of classic rock (the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and Bob Dylan) mixed with funk (Prince, Parliament, and James Brown). Hartzog calls his sound "funk and roll". On first listen, you may think of the music as "alternative"--much like some strange mixture of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and early David Bowie. But, after a few tracks, you begin to realize that Hartzog has now truly developed his own sound--you'll notice how sophisticated the lyrics are, and how the grooving Lenny Kravitz-style guitars now underpin some highly memorable melodies.

Danielle Howle |
"Danielle Howle is a Southern storyteller with a gorgeous sense of melody and a voice that should be pouring out of stereos everywhere...but she is true to the underground rock community that first nurtured her and has not made the leap to televised fame. If she never gets there, consider yourself lucky to have found her; she is one to treasure." -The New York Times
"Howle is quickly making a big noise thanks to her richly resonant voice and spirited songwriting. The music, a funky, down-home patchwork of roisterous rock and country strumming also speaks of the two-hundred-watt independent mind behind it." - Interview Magazine

Delancey Street Band |
Delancey Street Band started in the employee break room of Borders bookstore in the summer of 2000. Melinda Hansen and Keith Shamel began to write songs together. They began booking gigs in small cafes and clubs in and around the Charlotte area, garnering much attention for the unusual mix of sounds that "doesn't quite fit into any category" as many have said. With influences from violin, sitar, and various other instruments, they began to envision a broader composition and realized the need to expand instrumentally. In the summer of 2001 the duo became a quartet with bassist Bill Buck and drummer Rob Knox. The band continues to write new material at a feverish pace; arranging favorites for release of their third album.

Rick Spreitzer |
Rick Spreitzer is a NYC-born, Florida-raised singer-songwriter who now lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife, two dogs and three-odd acoustic guitars (the last figure varies depending on how recently he’s been to the pawn shop). He’ll tell you there are only a few things that really make him buzz… a strong cup of coffee, a beer with some bite to it, the Braves winning more than two games in a row, and a good song. Rick describes his music as “tip jar Americana… songs that dodge the lyrical middle road, steeped in common tones.” “For me, it’s often about what’s broken, lost or hungered for. There is a certain romance to those who seek grace and ballast through the bad luck and blue changes. The real pleasure for me is in finding songs that have pieces of poetry, mystery and some emotional gravity… that really pull you in.”
